Hi! And welcome to Humbled Craft Co. I'm Allison, owner and artist behind HCC. Before we get into my story, I just want to say thank you for coming to my website and supporting my small business! I'm a mom of two little boys and I was born and raised in the West End of Halifax. I now live in the Spryfield area with my partner, my two sons, my two cats, and my rescue pup Millie. It's a full house around here, but there no shortage of love and cuteness.

   Before I started my small business, I received my BA from St. Mary's University, followed by my BSW at Dalhousie University. It was in my final year of my BSW that I was pregnant with my oldest, Dimitri, giving birth one month before convocation. It was a close race, but I made it! I worked in the field doing front line social work for a few years prior to my pregnancy with my second son, Jonas. I felt overwhelmed, overworked, undervalued, and had a hard time balancing work and family life. I loved social work, but there is no doubt that it is a challenging field to be working in as a mom trying to balance it all.  During my second maternity leave and the Covid19 pandemic I realized that I wanted to re-focus my career path and choose a job that was better suited to my lifestyle. Owning a small business is busy and chaotic at times, but working from home around my own schedule gives me so much flexibility, which is so valuable to my family. Doing what I love has truly been life changing.
